Joe Thornton was the first overall pick in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft and played for the Boston Bruins through the 2005-2006 season, serving as team captain from 2002-2005. Thornton won the Art Ross Trophy (leading scorer) and Hart Trophy (MVP) in 2006 and led all Western Conference players in votes for the 2007 NHL All-Star Game.
